The teaching philosophy at Hausner is very project-based and there’s a lot of critical thinking that goes in to really all subjects. You can see your child really thinking through some of the challenges that they are given in science or math or Jewish studies. They are really participating with their classmates as well as their teachers.
We are delighted to welcome you to Hausner, our independent, joyful Jewish day school in the heart of Silicon Valley.
At Hausner, we stand for academic excellence, transformative learning, and social-emotional connection. Our K-8 school is abuzz with students and families growing, learning, and celebrating together, nurtured by the cycles and rhythms of the Jewish year.
Our staff is here to serve you, so please be in touch!

Choosing Hausner is a way to give your child an education, a connection to their Judaism, and having them be a part of the community that’s going to support them throughout their life. The teachers and the staff look at the whole child, and it’s not just about facts and figures, but about how they become lifelong learners and how their curiosity is fueled. It’s a very thoughtful curriculum. There’s always a purpose behind what’s being taught.
Parent of Student, Class of 2025
Hausner middle school teachers recognized my son’s math ability and allowed him to move forward more quickly than traditional math programs. He was placed in a unique eighth-grade classroom program designed to challenge and further develop his problem-solving skills.

The community aspect of values and service really translate into the children caring about one another and about their larger community and environment. Hausner’s social emotional learning model feeds not only the whole child but the group as well. After 8th grade, our children feel confident to advocate for themselves and can approach peers, administrators and teachers in their new worlds with compassion and confidence.

All in all, Hausner surpassed our most optimistic expectations and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The school provides everything a new family from Israel can hope for. Only six months into the year and our boys are really happy to go to school, have made many friends, are making unbelievable progress with their English and enjoy their Hebrew speakers’ classes and Jewish Studies.
Parents of 1st & 5th Graders
We chose Hausner because of the wonderful learning atmosphere. The children are happy; they smile and enjoy their experience. Hausner is focused on engaging kids rather than exclusively focusing on academics. We believe that this approach will enable continued engagement in learning throughout our daughter’s life.
Parent of 4th Grader
I chose Hausner for three main reasons: community, project-based learning, and excellent loving teachers. The community at Hausner is warm, caring and compassionate. The education is fabulous – engaging, interdisciplinary and challenging for each student at their level. We have three children, all with different learning styles and interests, and all have had an excellent experience.
Parent of 3rd & 8th Graders
Transferring to Gideon Hausner is like night and day. His new teacher and new classmates went out of their way to make my son feel loved and cared for. If he didn’t know or understand something, the Teacher and support staff worked with him in a small group to make sure he mastered the necessary concept/skill. His teachers gave a lot of positive feedback and encouragement which helped him gain back his self-confidence as a learner. He likes a classroom environment where small groups and cooperative learning are used throughout the day. He finished the year happy and content about school, plus made many new friends.
Parent of 4th Grader
What I most appreciate about our experience with Hausner is how quickly, and well, the teachers and staff got to know my kids. Aside from the quality education they’ve received, my kids feel very comfortable and happy here and consequently, so am I.
Parent of 5th Grader & 8th Grader
But mostly, we are grateful for how much our children love learning, how they think of school as a positive place to be, and how they know who they are and what is important in life. Every staff member contributed to this sense of engagement, of values, and of joy. The Hausner teachers are dedicated, creative, talented, and enthusiastic and the children absorb all of that. Each year we were impressed beyond measure by the dynamic units teachers created, by the attention paid to our children as individuals by every staff member, and by the emphasis placed on core Jewish values in each classroom and throughout the school. What you have given our children continues to live and thrive as they journey beyond Hausner.
