Applying to Hausner
We are currently accepting applications for our K-8 program for the 2018-19 school year. We accept applications from Jewish and interfaith families who are interested in and committed to an educational program that values academic excellence, community responsibility, and vibrant Jewish living.
Before you apply, we encourage you to learn more about Hausner and to get a feel for our vibrant school community by attending an open house, scheduling a private tour, or connecting with our Admission staff. Visiting the campus is a great way to see our school community in action. You will connect with teachers, administrators, current students and parents, while learning about Hausner’s multi-faceted, hands-on approach to education. We will also happily set aside time to answer any questions you may have.
Our online school application has been designed to make the process hassle-free. Once you’ve created an account (use the Apply Now button above), you will see a check-list of the necessary documents to complete your application. This includes a non-refundable, $100 application fee.
Hausner is more than a school: we are an engaged community of children and adults learning, working, and growing together. We value an ongoing, parent-teacher partnership that starts from the very beginning. Joining in a conversation as part of the admission process provides our first opportunity get to know your child, through your eyes. Parent Conversations are a great time to bring up any questions or concerns, although you should always feel free be in touch at any time. Our open-door policy starts the moment you reach out to us.
Kindergarten Readiness Screening: All Kindergarten applicants participate in a Kindergarten readiness screening. Sessions are group-based and conducted with several applicants at once. For approximately 45 minutes, children participate in a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities with our faculty, while parents are welcome to have a coffee and tea and engage in Q&A with members of our leadership team.
Grades 1-8 Shadow Days: After submitting an application, all prospective students attend a two-day shadow in their current grade. This visit gives applicants the opportunity to participate actively in classroom lessons and activities , and to immerse fully the daily rhythms of Hausner. All students are teamed up with a buddy who will lead and care for them throughout the day.
At Hausner, we pride ourselves in meeting the individual needs of our diverse student body. We value the time we get to meet prospective students one-on-one, so that we can get to know them better and consider how we can best provide them with their optimal learning environment. Meetings will occur during shadow days and are designed to be, engaging, and stress-free.
There is no Student-Teacher meeting for Kindergarten applicants.
